I bought this for my son who graduates with MS in geology.  I had it engraved on case.  It's so beautiful.  And, what a wonderful tritium display in the dark.  You can even see it start to glow before it is completely dark.  With a half-life of 12.3 years, and the super brightness of the initial tritium loading, it should still be able to be read after more than 20 years.
